CANVAS DESIGN + DEVELOPMENT

A user-centered Canvas experience designed to organize summer course content into a clear, engaging and consistent learning environment for CU Denver Continuing & Professional Education.

Canvas Layout Samples

Creates a clear entry point to the course with consistent navigation, module access and key learner resources.

COURSE HOME

Extends the learning experience with additional programs, resources and opportunities for continued engagement.

NEXT STEPS

Provides centralized access to technical guidance, tutorials and direct support so learners can get help when needed.

TECH SUPPORT

A consistent module framework organizes each week around four clear learning actions: Read, Explore, Discuss and Connect. Collapsible accordion sections keep the page easy to scan while allowing learners to quickly understand what is expected before opening detailed content.

Expanded accordion sections reveal detailed instructions, resources, media and activities while maintaining the same predictable structure throughout the course.

PROJECT

OVERVIEW

PROJECT OVERVIEW

UPDATE & REDESIGN

CU This Summer: A self-paced onboarding experience for new CU Denver SEHD faculty.

Role: LMS Systems Administrator Intern, instructional designer, content developer, visual designer

Tools: Canvas, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator

Timeline: Spring–Summer 2026

Audience: CU Denver Continuing & Professional Education learners

THE CHALLENGE

CU Denver Continuing & Professional Education needed a flexible Canvas structure that could organize course materials, activities, support resources and next steps in a consistent and easy-to-navigate experience.

The goal was to create a reusable learning environment that made it easier for learners to understand where to go, what to do and how to access support throughout the course.

THE SOLUTION

I designed a structured Canvas experience with consistent navigation, clearly defined modules and reusable page layouts.

Course content was organized around four learning actions: Read, Explore, Discuss and Connect, creating a predictable structure for learners while giving instructors flexibility to add their own materials and activities.

THE RESULT

The final design provides a clear, cohesive Canvas experience that brings course content, navigation and learner support into one consistent system.

The project demonstrates my ability to organize learning content, design intuitive LMS experiences and translate program needs into practical, user-centered digital learning environments.
